If good remember it is called "magnifying glass".
This is quite usefull tool in graphic and tehnical drawing software.
This is only idea, I am not fan of usless gadgets which make live complicated.

Would be usefull to have extra zoom window (lets say 1/6 of size main working window) and cursor position determine what is zoomed in this window. If function accessible from top icons bar then radicaly safe time if we need detailed view of little sector from recorded picture. Just to your considera...
