2 wire v 3 wire, Magnetti Marelli CDTi Crank Angle senors

some crank angle sensors have three wires, two for the sense coil, and one to power an electromagnet (i presume). others have their own permanent magnet, and two wires, one for each end of the coil. some confusion may arise due to a third wire for shielded cable. My question is this. In the case of ...

Disconnecting Inductive Injectors whilst running: Damage?

Hi, I know that you cannot disconnect piezo injectors whilst the engine is unning as they injrctor would stick open, but I was wondering if it is possible to cause damage by disconnecting an inductive injector whilst as engine is running? Has anyone very done this and not encountered a problem such ...

Re: Waveforms related to the DPF Load and temperature Sensor

Hi, Due to rather long winded internal funding and requsitioning processes, I will not have a scope to play around with for about 8 weeks. I would be most grateful if you could describe the typical DPF signal. For example, is it 2.5 V downto zero when pressure is applied in one direction, 2.5 upto 5...

Re: Waveforms related to the DPF Load and temperature Sensor

Names Tony.

Would it be possible please to get a look at those waveforms,
or at least a written description such as + or - 5V or whatever?

Where are you reading the serial data from?

Re: Waveforms related to the DPF Load and temperature Sensor

Has nobody gone near a DPF with a scope?

Anybody know if the load and exhaust temps sensor signals are basic 5v like a map sensor?

Or digital or differential outputs?

Re: Injection pulses for depressurization

Hi Experimenteer (Ahhhgg I hate using Forum names  ) I have noticed this "venting" of fuel pressure that you mention, but only on the Delphi common rail systems that we see on makes such as, Renault, Ford, Jaguar. (in the UK) You will hear a double "high pitched buzz" at engine switch off, w...

Waveforms related to the DPF Load and temperature Sensors

Would be very interested to read about anyone's experiences with probing DPF load sensors, associated temp sensors etc.

Injection pulses for depressurization

I have been led to believe that in many common rail diesel systems, fuel rail depressurisation at engine shut-down is accomplished by pulsing the injector with a very short pulse, sufficient for the valve in the injector servo chamber to open and close (expelling fuel out the injector spill/return l...
