Re: Ford Focus MK3 1.0 Ecoboost no spark.

There are no DTC's present. The tachometer needle does not move, but cranking speed from Forscan is readable, approx 400 rpm. Even without a crank trace, I would assume it is correct as fuel is injected and rotations are measured.

I do not know what makes the secondary look like that..

Re: Same baseline voltage in CAN H/L

To sum this up, the original ECU was repaired, CAN voltages were back to normal, but it was still broken beyond repair. Other modules could not communicate with it. Another ECU solved the issue, and the car runs well.

Ford Focus MK3 1.0 Ecoboost no spark.

Hello. The car in question had its engine rebuilt due to internal failure. After the rebuild, the engine does not start. Cranking speed is good, timing has been double checked, fuel is injected but the spark is missing on all cylinders. I only had few leads and a secondary probe, but can we make an ...

Re: Same baseline voltage in CAN H/L

Hello Ben, When you were taking the CAN H & L measurement at the ECU you mention a ground, where was the ground on the vehicle? At the spring turret bolt (vehicle chassis) with a crocodile clip, both ground's connected to the same lead. The resistance measurements you have recorded, did you have all...

Same baseline voltage in CAN H/L

Good evening, Mercedes E -2005 with CDI engine and Bosch EDC16C2 does not recognize the ECU. Other modules are communicating with the tester but the ECU can not be reached by the other modules or a diagnostic tester. Can H/L seems to have the same voltage but a differential signal. Bus resistors wer...

Battery testing

Hello, It is my first time using the PicoDiagnostics battery tester. I could not access the starter motor and the battery was in the back, so I measured from there. The engine rotates very slowly and has a hard time starting, there are no known mechanical hindrances. The software states the battery ...

Re: Input and help, basic secondary ignition diagnostic

OK, here it goes. Blue trace, a lean condition as the nose is too high? Red trace, I got nothing. I really tried but I can not say what is wrong in the waveform, or in my capture. Blue trace had a normal waste spark system I believe, but the red capture in terms of the longer waveform was unlike any...

Re: Input and help, basic secondary ignition diagnostic

And the same situation from an B170 Mercedes. This trace makes even less sense to me after all of the literature I have read and the videos watched.

Re: Input and help, basic secondary ignition diagnostic

I was able to do some captures with normal oil changes just to practice. 500m/s and I still fail to understand the waveform in diagnostic point of view. This was from an Audi A2. After watching numerous videos again, it is possible to get good quality capture with cheap equipment, and somehow I stil...
