Breakout Lead Risks?

The description for breakout leads warns that incorrect connections could "short" my Picoscope and cause damage. It's easy for me to understand how a PCM could be fried. Please help me understand how my scope is at risk by shorting. I think I'm missing something here.

Hello everyone, I really like the looks of the Pico Accupuncture Probes. Shipping is a bit expensive to the US. Does anyone know of a US source? I found some online that look, smell and taste like the real thing. Makes me wonder if they are the same and just have a different name (AES) on them. Love...
