Re: WPS500X

Tools >>> Preferences >>> Regional & Language. You can change the Language and Measurement System from there.

WPS500X is safe to use with gasoline and thus should be safe with benzine.

Re: primary ignition principle

Right, the collapsing magnetic field induces voltage in the primary, as well as the secondary. We basically see a reflection of what is happening in the primary in the secondary as well as a reflection of the secondary in the primary, depending on the part of the pattern we discuss. In your example ...

Re: primary ignition principle

You seem to be forgetting that the control side of the primary has to be released before the magnetic field can collapse.

Re: air mass meter defective?

You shouldn't really need to hit the rev limiter. The initial gulp of air is going to be about as much air as the engine can ingest.

I would expect the Lambda sensor to reflect fuel being added.

Re: air mass meter defective?

On that engine/system I would expect to see an initial "spike" of over 4.5 volts. This is assuming you are snapping it WOT like you don't own it. A quick look at fuel trims may also aid you in condemning the MAF.

Re: scoping MAF-MAP on late diesels

If we can just have low-pass filtering work with the frequency graphing and be able to filter out the ignition "noise" that would be great. To be honest, usually if I'm scoping a MAF it's to prove what I already suspect. So off-the-cuff I can't think of anything to add for testing of MAFs beyond wha...

Re: Speedometer signal testing

You will not be able to derive the information you seek by scoping communication lines. You will require a scan tool that can communicate with all the modules involved. If power and ground are at the module not displaying vehicle speed and the communication lines are active (a clue would be other fu...

Re: Speedometer signal testing

Just so we are clear, you wish to scope the communication lines between modules to ascertain where the VSS information is being lost?

Thanks.

Re: scoping MAF-MAP on late diesels

I've received some comments about the spikes on the frequency graph. I've taken a second capture with a greater number of requested samples and loaded it here: http://www.wavehook.com/dbase/bigpic.html?hello=1597.gif&id=1599.gif. You can download the .psdata from there and manipulate it as you please.
