Fast(er) streaming returns

Just posting to confirm that the maximum streaming sampling rate for the PS3x2x scopes has indeed been increased to 1MHz again (only available on the 200ms/div timebase). The problem was a small bug that crept-in due to other fixes. This fix will be available in the next release (6.0.12). PS: - nice...

Hi Wilfred,

Although none of our ADC products are isolated, we sell a piece of equipment called a x1/100 isolating probe, which will be suitable for your requirements. Use the link below:

Hi Tom / Carl, Thanks for looking at this, I hope you don't mind me putting a few quote marks in your post above to make it more readable (I'm sure other automotive users will find these answers very useful). Just one small point ... the ETS mode is, as you correctly say, for fast repetitive wavefor...

Alex, The scope doesn't capture one big picture unless you ask it to (as per your suggestion) ... so you were probably just unlucky that the car was misfiring during the gaps in your data. If you capture a long run of data, you have to bear in mind that the units onboard memory is finite, and you ma...

Hi Klein,

There a lot of information on our automotive kits already available on our webiste, try here:

http://www.picotech.com/auto/

They do have the capability to display ignition waveforms but you will need manufacturer specific sensors for COP systems.

Thanks for the input Tom, I'd forgotten that Alex may not have his trigger limit uncapped. To extend the first point you brought up (the amount of data collected per save). You can change this from: Settings|Options|Advanced reduce the value of the ' Number of Sample per Scope Trace ' (this can go d...

Hi,

There's no way that the ADC-212 or the PC could write files at this speed, It would take a very long time to sift through 2000 files anyway (half an hour when viewing 1 file per second), so there would be little point in collecting this amount of data.

Hi,

I've checked this out with the manufacturer, and the lead is designed to dump these sparks to ground, so there should be no problem with damaging the unit.

If you want to avoid this happening anyway, just switch the engine off first.

Hi Carl, The HT Lead should never have a direct electrical connection which would allow it to be 'zapped'. If there is potential for this ever to happen, then the equipment is not being used safely. The unit is protected from major damage up to 100V dc, however, you can only measure up to 42V dc for...

Mark, Sorry to hear you're having problems with this. I'm sorry to say that, ignition spikes are too thin for the ADC-11 unit to detect. The ADC-11 can achieve 10,000 Samples per second in Fast-block mode. Which equates to 100us; an ignition spike only has a width of about 20us. This means that the ...
