Do I have a valid point?

I'll always be in learning mode with PicoScope 7. Here shown is a typical trace of the ignition primary for both voltage and current. To get four cylinders on the scope graticule, I had to increase the time base to 20 ms/div. Now the fun begins... The ignition coil primary windings are shorting on t...

Re: Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol year 2012 engine code SPJC

I should bring this thread to a conclusion and close it now. 1 / The engine was rebuilt five years ago. I was not convinced that the cylinder head gasket was leaking, because initially I did not see the coolant level reducing during driving cycles of the car, i.e. around 100 miles use. 2/ When the c...

When printing scope traces using rulers etc, the legends don't print. After printing, the channel labels underneath the scope traces A,B,C and D are not colour coded like the rulers, therefore make the presentation difficult to decide which ruler applies to which channel. Would it be possible to upd...

Re: Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol year 2012 engine code SPJC

B/ What component in a cylinder can cause intermittent compression problems when the engine is cold some mornings and other mornings the engine starts and runs okay for days on end. Maybe take a look for coolant in the cylinder in the morning - that would fit your symptoms. - Inc shorting out the p...

Re: Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol year 2012 engine code SPJC

Thank you for your reply and advice. I've devised a test plan to check the electrics, coils and injection circuits based on your advice and wiring diagram. Looking at the wiring diagram I'm thinking the current demand for the coils and injectors should be around 8 - 10A each circuit. I'm clearly not...

Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol year 2012 engine code SPJC

Car came in with engine misfire, which only occurs from cold and last a few seconds, but if the engine is accelerated during the misfire, it clears and does not return. I've tried previously to upload PS data files but they are too big, hence I need to know how to cut sections of the recording for u...

Re: 2018 Roadshow, scope owners not invited!! Really??

Mr Dalton has hit the nail on the head ! It seems that there is a shift in the "technicians" thinking. With the purchase of a Scan tool the expectation was very simple: What sensor do I replace to fix this car ? Now, months, years, decades later, the scan tool didn't live up to the promise, that on...

Fiesta 1.4 SPJC code

20230731_121858.jpg History... Five years approximately ago the engine was rebuilt because of a failed oil cooler. No expense was spared, whatever was required was carried out. Five years later cylinder 3 is misfiring when cold only, which soon clears. I'll upload files later, but I don't think WPS...
