Re: Test Plan for Smart Charging System on Ford Fiesta 1.4 (SPJC)

no fault codes on the electrical systems anywhere. The alternator is not the cause, we have bench tested this unit and can gain up to 15 v from it. What Scanner are you using, they are not equal as you know. Bench testing the alternator is great but not ideal as the Purists will argue and with good...

Re: Test Plan for Smart Charging System on Ford Fiesta 1.4 (SPJC)

Just an update on this. The engine cooling fan operation is now resolved and the only problem I have now is the same problem the car had in this thread; https://topic19391.html?smart+charging#p88081 In the thread above I was communicating with Danny at the time and the last posts were saying that if...

Test Plan for Smart Charging System on Ford Fiesta 1.4 (SPJC)

I'm having a continued headache with a Ford Fiesta 1.4 petrol incorporating a Smart Charging System, with a single wire LIN connection. The car has had two new batteries fitted in the last two years none of which were the cause of the problem. The terminal voltage at the battery has never really bee...

Re: buying NVH

I ordered a kit yesterday! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow here in Sweden. Problem is I think a need a hydraulic measurement kit, and maybe a wps too. Getting expensive this! 😀😎🤟 I truly believe that the initial investment might seem daunting at first, but after using the kit(s) a while and seein...

Re: corsa

Probably the cheapest and safest way if you are unsure is either purchase a Haynes workshop manual that will provide some guidance, or pop along to your local garage workshop and ask their advice.

Re: Fiesta 1.4 engine code SPJC (FIXED)

Thank you gentlemen for your replies they are very much appreciated. I'll be honest when the engine back fired into the intake manifold (plastic) it sounded really bad and much smoke present, I feared the worst. I did the above tests prior to removing the inlet manifold yesterday thinking that very ...

Re: Fiesta 1.4 engine code SPJC

Yes cranking is a tad low at 200 rpm, and yes the valve timing was out. If I understood it correctly when I checked it I thought the pistons 1 and 4 were set past TDC rather than at TDC, hence back fired into the intake manifold. The compressions were checked prior to adjusting the valve timing and ...

Fiesta 1.4 engine code SPJC (FIXED)

Just scratching my head a little with this one. Engine will not start. Compression test using a gauge records 150 psi on each cylinder. There is fuel supply. I am advised the engine back fired into the plastic intake manifold. I used the WPS to establish manifold vacuum thinking that the manifold co...

Re: buying NVH

Hi Jim, Steve Smith would be the best person to answer your requirements, and if you need a super fast reply it might be better to ring their help line. I have the NVH kit and it is a very good kit but takes some time to learn and research its use on vehicles. The prop shaft side of NVH will require...
