Re: Astra 16SE ignition issue

Hi Karel, so your codes are telling you not only a misfire on cyl4 P0304 but a random/multiple cylinder misfire P0300 if your code P0304 is changing to P0301 when you swap the lead then that lead is no good. That will possibly not address the P0300 though and chances are if you have one crook lead t...

Re: How to measure a Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband lambda sensor

Just a though, rather than needing a micro amp clamp why not just put a 100x coil in place and use normal clamp? hey Brett, how you getting on with your tiepie ? One of the reasons I don't use that method is access to the harness/O2 connector to attach breakout leads, I might make one up for next t...

Re: Sample waveform for Vauxhall Insignia Active ABS Current

I find the best way to see these small signals is by making a simple coil wrap with copper wire. Wrap copper wire 100x, solder a couple of terminals on ends and plug in to wiring to sensor. Then use 60A clamp around your 100x coil to read your signal which is now magnified 100x to make much easier t...

Re: Nissan Navara fuel pressure problem

You need to look at the duty cycle of the suction control valve and look for big jumps in amount of cycle. If valve is sticking this can cause excess pressure and make pressure valve actuate. Once they have let pressure go once they will do it more and more often. New scv and pressure dump valve. Ch...

Re: Hello from New Zealand

Hi Robski, Yeah really enjoying using scope whenever I can. Which is nowhere near enough! Main issue I have is that I got the latest scope which is a hell of alot faster than all the others that came before. Seems they have not got round to updating the software. All the presets are for older slower...

Poor earth

Hi all, have been having a play with a 96 Subaru Grandwagon BG9 EJ20 for training more than anything else. Had some issues but they are sorted. Had a look with scope at primary ignition and earth is only reaching 700mv when switch closes and is up to 4V by the time switch opens. I have checked and c...

Coil current ramp

Hi all, just been reading some of the case studies in library. Great reading. http://www.picoauto.com/tutorials/friday-afternoon.html by Nick Hibberd. Looking at the coil current ramp and its characteristics. I have attached my first coil current ramp capture from a known good firing coil on a Nissa...
