Re: Focus egr problem.

That's the million dollar question isn't it? Not sure, the egr was very clogged up, don't really see why this would change the settings? Perhaps as everything gets worn the tolerence isn't great enough, I think that's basically what the update does, just widens the acceptable tolerence before loggin...

Re: Focus egr problem.

For anyone still interested... and because I hate reading unsolved cases, got it fixed with a software update! Which is a bit surprising as I took this job on after the local Ford dealer couldn't fix it, ended up finding out about the update through another friend in the trade who had the Ford IDS t...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Ok this car is out to make me look an even bigger fool than I've been doing myself up until now. Set the scope up this morning to capture the switch off cycling only to find that it isn't doing it anymore! Originally with the motor disconnected from the mechanical valve part I could watch it cycle 4...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Oh.. capture when I TURN the engine off! Thought you meant WITH the engine off, hence a capture with the ignition on. sorry. The second captures were with the engine running blipping the throttle and trying different rev bands. I will try again tomorrow and do a proper road test and the switching of...

Re: Focus egr problem.

oh, thought that's what I'd done? Right then, I'll have to go back to my origional plan of sending the ECU away for testing. Will at least rule it out if it tests ok. THANK YOU for trying to help a Pico Newbie out. I've still learnt alot even if I haven't fixed it yet. Mike Will post again if I get ...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Ok I've taken some amp readings now, for some reason today with everything back together my position sensor signal is about right at idle (still will not move though). I have taken amp readings from BM2 AND BL2 to be sure. Current channel A (blue) BL2 BM2 (red) BD2 (green) amp B2 ign on.psdata amp B...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Hi again, my last post hasn't been approved yet but I was incorrect with the model year, it is in fact a 2006 Focus. Apologies again for the confusion I have caused. I have taken wave forms from each of the wires from the ECU to the EGR at both ends with a math channel to prove that the loom appears...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Sorry everyone, my bad ,it is an 06 Focus, I don't know why I put 04. It definately has a 5 pin motor, three for the position sensor and two for the motor. Yes I am in the trade and have been for over 20 years, unfortunately I have spent them all working for independant bosses who didn't like spendi...

Re: Focus egr problem.

Hi, sorry about not using paragraphs, new to using forums. How should I be testing the wiring properly? Focus egr problem.

Hi, I'm trying to fix a recurring p0409 egr circuit high fault on an 04 Focus 1.8 TDCI. I have checked all the wiring between the ECU and EGR valve for continuity and I have removed and cleaned the inlet manifold mechanical part of the valve. Does anyone have a scope pattern for the readings at the ...
