Nissan X-trail 2.2 Di Hard start

Post by r3s1s74nc3 »

Hello guys !
This is my first post here , so i hope it's not so rude to as for help directly ...
So the car is Nissan X-trail ( T30 model ) with 2.2 Di 114 hp engine 2002 year .
It has problem with really hard starting , cold , hot doesn't matter , every time .
After the start up everything is fine , good amount of power , smooth running engine , no black smoke etc. Ofc there is no fault codes stored in the ECU . I readed the live data while the car is cranking and there is rpm reading and fuel pressure . The owner already has change the timing chains , crank and cam sensor , the high fuel pressure pump valves , the fuel pressure sensor on the rail . I checked the wiring to the ecu of the cam and crank sensor and its OK . But i'm starting to think there is something wrong with the timing chains cuz he told me , when they change it some parts left from the kit , cuz there were not for this car ... If someone can provide crank cam waveform for this engine ( both sensors are inductive ) , i will be greatly thankful .

Use search for X-trail 2.2D engine ,I uploaded a cam vs crank signals ,not shure if it was for T30 or T31 ...or use this :?

Thanks for the waveform victor !
I checked out the car , and seems out the timing is spot on ... But still hard start as hell ... When the rpm tacho start moving this is when the car decided to start , till then no chance

Hello,
Put here the captured signal from starting, cam vs crank vs rail pressure vs injectors current.
If the rpm not moving then you have small/wrong signals from sensors
Try to unplug one by one the crank and camshaft sensors and check again if your engine will start
Best regards

This is the cam - crank waveform while the car is running :

This is while the car is cranking and not starting :

I doubt this small difference is going to prevent the car from starting . As i mentioned before the owner already tried with new cam and crank sensors . On diagnostic tool i see the rpm reading while cranking , but on the instrument cluster no movement .

Today i checked the injectors . Indeed they were not getting any control while the car is cranking . After 10-20 secs , the ECU is sending only one or two control signals , but this is not enough for the car to start , and after 5-10 secs more , it goes to normal control signal and it starts . The car has 2 ECUs . The main one is behind the glovebox , and the other one is in the engine compartment . The main one is sending control signal to the second one and then , the second one is firing the injectors . So the main one is not sending nothing to the second one right now , while the car is cranking . Hope you guys understand me :D
