I'm a newly retired computer engineer and enjoy all things electronic and mechanical.
Always been a car buff so now I'm enjoying working on my cars as a hobby.
I've done a lot of research into the technologies of PicoScope and it's quite impressive.
I've requested a 4 chanel advanced kit from Santa and hope to be in PicoScope heaven soon.
It would be great to find a like minded PicoScope user in the Austin area.
Please contact me if your in or around the Austin, Texas area.
Thanks to all at PicoScope for an amazing automotive diagnostic tool set.
Did you order your kit from Tom Roberts at Autonerdz?
Their resources are second to none. I was very sceptical about them as I am in the U.K. and Autonerdz is America based but they are truly world leaders imvho. Not just for the USA. Yes it’s only my/an opinion.
I have been forced to retire very recently due to ill health and so join the ranks of hobbyists now but will still look at the odd car for friends and family nowadays.
There are some who will buy the kit and expect to interpret the wiggly lines easily?
There are some who will look all over the internet for free tuition? YouTube and the like.
Some will buy books?
I did all that.
But, it still leaves you feeling under trained, again just my opinion here.
I also looked at tuition/courses but.I can’t learn that way as I forget stuff finding myself asking, what did he say about that, how does that do this etc? I needed something with longevity and to learn at my own pace.
The support and expertise at Autonerdz is a cut above in picoscope training and worth every penny/cent, from a self confessed sceptic.
MCCT alone is fantastic to learn. (Credits to mick Jones)
TDC with a dial gauge is only accurate to 2 or 3 degrees.
Don’t even get started on compression waveform analysis.
Just setting the scope up can be daunting (for some) loads of custom probe setups included with nerds as well.

+++etc etc
Ps. Rod Maher has a tube channel.
If like me you thought “it’s not worth it” I’d think again.
