According to Toyota, if I am not mistaken, the blue signal should be right between the missing tooth on red signal, not where it is now.
Don't put any eggs in that basket. For Example. Mercedes will give you Cam Crank Diagrams in WIS and Star Guided Tests that you would like to think are accurate and you will trust them - NO !! They are all wrong.

Vehicle Manufacturers cannot get MPG / L/100km figures right. What chance with the real technical stuff ???

If you can get a known good that would be the best.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_KZ_engine tells me it is common Rail ?
All the 2's in 2205 MSO makes me guess 2 channels ?

Can you post
Crank and Injector 1 Current
Crank and Fuel Pressure Sensor Voltage
Injector 1 Current & Fuel Pressure Sensor

All from Ignition On > Cranking > Start (if it will start) with 10 seconds across the screen.

Same again but start it with Spray this time.

Thanks

Does it, where ??

I thought the pump on these was this type:

I cant see anything common or rail !

I thought that too from the details in the post till I looked it up on Wikipedia. The very reason I looked to be certain before I posted.

Nothing lost. A Piezo Clamp can be used in place of the amp clamp for testing sync and no need for FRP trace. Nothing lost!

Indeed it is. 8) Not an automotive scope but that is not the end of the world!

STC,

That would surely make some sense as the timing has been taken out and re-assembled, and the Crank/Cam signals are in the exact same place as before.

Here is a very good video on Youtube about the pump. The pump has been changed and inspected by a well known specialist.

The injectors are fully mechanical. So I can not take the measurements you asked. I do not have an piezo clamp. Is it absolutely necessary?

Is the timing solenoid working, is there power to it, I'd just for a test reverse the wires on that crank sensor!

Here are the traces from the timing solenoid. There is definetly someting wrong with it but can not put my finger on it.
WP_20170828_005.jpg
-Here I can see the voltage rising, so the coil is reserving. But in the first two traces there is no current drawn? After that it is normal. In this condition, we have a fault code about the timing solenoid.
WP_20170828_007.jpg
-Here is a capture that looks normal, and it is like the reference waveform.
WP_20170828_010.jpg
-Same situation with timebase switched from 20 to 10ms.

Image

-At the lower part of the page there is a reference waveform.

So in conclusion I believe there is something wrong in that circuit. But is it the coil, wiring, the driving transistor or the MCU?

But as for the start-up, I don't think that the timing control solenoid is needed as mechanical timing is accurate enough to start the engine. I will test and reverse the crank sensor wires. If the wires are mixed, that will result in the fault code for the timing control solenoid, as the measured/wanted timing deviates more than 7 degrees.

Sorry about using that scope, but I don't have access to that Pico right now as I am not at work.

Thanks guys!

You would get more value if you added an amp clamp to one of the wires. Then you would see the command and the component reaction.

STC,

Too bad all I could source was a scope that looks like an old boomblaster from a YMCA music video. So no possibility to use a clamp.

Reversing the crank sensor wires did not help to start the engine.

Have you checked that the wires are the correct way around on the crank sensor I know on the subarus it wont go if they are swapped back to front?
