Bluetooth Keyboard/Presentation Controller

Post by FioranoCars »

Hi
Last week saw me hoping in and out of cars to start/stop captures (and heaven knows I need the exercise!), but for a variety of reasons got boring and prone to error, so what else do you do on a Sunday with a great freshly ground coffee in your hand ... think about solving those PITA issues from the week past!

So has anyone tried using a bluetooth "PowerPoint" style remote control?
Or a mini Bluetooth keyboard (like a PS3 or other mini style)?
Like this one Image

Or even phone based app to emulate a keyboard over bluetooth (Air Keyboard ~ Android) - any other apps ?

On the basis that 99% of the time it's just start and stop capture, maybe the odd navigate through buffers (so forwards and back), it does not need to be a keyboard (Pico Automotive has full keyboard shortcut customisation, so it should be easy to make it work with a very limited controller)...

Bluetooth is preferred for various reasons, but with all the laptops we use having it already, and limited free USB to plug in bespoke 2.4mhz style units, makes it simple and universal.

Any ideas or known issues would be great to hear about
Equally anyone with feedback on Presentation controllers, ideally cheap and rugged enough for a workshop!

Thanks
Richard Lukins

Just to say, we bought a mini keyboard, installed fine, and works great!
Now we can see the screen on the mobile workstation from inside the car and trigger /stop ... even page though the capture!!

Lazy, maybe, but will save so much time, jumping up and down/in out of cars!
