Hello All
have a question in regards to the popular mongoose pro interface to get rpm. Since there are still many pre CAN vehicles that use for example in Chryslers case the J1850VPW will the Pico NVH app recognize the mongoose pro for Chryslers J1850VPW or does the software only recognize the CAN and ISO9141/KWP2000?
The Pico NVH software will function with this protocol assuming you have the latest NVH software and the device you are using to communicate with the vehicle(Mongoose Pro) supports J1850 VPW.
We have a feature within the new latest NVH software called "OBD logging", which will incorporate ODB communication data within the last trace file created at the end of each NVH session.
To enable ODB logging see the image below.
After a failed attempt to obtain engine speed and road speed via the OBD link, close Pico Diagnostics. A this point a new trace file will be written to the PC
Locate the trace file and include this in a brief report to support@picotech.com
Trace .xml files can be located in the following directories (assuming we have Windows 7 or 8 )
Windows Vista/7/8: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Pico Technology\Pico Diagnostics
With the Pico Diagnostics folder open, you will find a larger folder identified by a long alpha numeric title (E.g. a6f37be2-ef55-40fe-914d-ddbe5251)
Open the above alpha numeric folder and locate the “trace xml” file for the last NVH connection attempt. (Identified by the date and time alongside)
To access the Application Data/AppData folder and sub-folders the option to view hidden folders within Windows must be enabled:
Windows Vista/7:
• Go to C:\Users\ in Windows Explorer
• Click Organise and select Folder and search options
Click the View tab, then under Hidden Files and Folders, select the tick box to 'Show hidden files and folders', and click 'OK':
