Hi, I have used the relative compression test on a 6 cylinder diesel engine. Most of the times I get an error message from the test, "Could not process data due to unknown error". Only sometimes I get a valid test result. I have changes batteries, location of the probes but still most of the times the test does not work as it should. Been using this test before and been impressed how well it worked. Have somthing changed in the software or what can be the reason that the test fails?
/Frank
Sorry you are experiencing an issue with the relative compression test which I carried out yesterday using the current software version 6.10.16.2 with no issues. (12 V system)
Can you let me know what software version you are using by clicking on HELP and ABOUT?
It should be Version 1.7.4 build 20
Can you let me know the model number of your scope too. E.g. 4423?
The voltage value indicates approx 20 V, would this be a 24 V cranking system?
Could you test the same function using PicoScope software to confirm all is OK with your hardware?
Channel A to battery positive and negative terminals and crank engine.
Many thanks again for the post Frank and I look forward to your reply, take care......Steve
I have previously registered this as a bug using this exact same software.(6.10.11)
I am not sure why the software is indicating "No update available" as we now have version 6.10.16.2 incorporating Pico Diagnostics version 1.7.4 build 20
Would it be possible to test this version and feedback? (This would be much appreciated)
I will attach your post to the bug file.
Thank you once again and any feedback would be most helpful
Hi Steve,
I have upgraded the SW but the fault remains. It seems like the test does't work with 24V. The voltage signal seems to be cut at 20V when I am looking in the "Display raw data". When I only connect to one of the batteries and gets 12V and run the test it works just fine.
