Hi
I have been to look at a Ford Focus thats a non starter.
I have scoped the injectors and all seem to be missing the main injection event?
I'm new to the scope so please bear with me.
They are Delphi injectors and before I got to the car two new ones have been fitted because of excess leak off.
It wouldnt start before they were fitted I have been told.
Could someone more knowledgeable than me have a look at the file please?
Thanks Rob.
Compressions sound good. but will test for sure with gauge tomorrow.
Runs fine on sniff.
Found some more info:
Came in as non runner, Petrol was suspected to have been put in by mistake,
Customer denies it. Tank drained, fuel replaced, still trying to fire on cranking but wont run, also had a direct fuel feed into top of the pump, still the same.
Fuel filter not checked for swarf already binned when I got there.
Leak off rechecked, one injector draining a little more than the other 3.
Garage knew I had a pico so asked me to scope the injectors as didnt want to buy a 3rd injector if it wouldnt allow a start. theory being that if the fuel pressure appears ok it should run? One injector with a leak off problem would lower the pressure?
Can run a relative compression check and injector current test sometime tomorrow.
The pump proof test, is that with the IMf ect disconnected, fuel feed direct into the pump and measure full obtainable pressure?
If so it was about 125,000KPA from memory.
Complete system in situ, LP/HP, to maximum pressure. If not reached then eliminate IMV with a dummy, then injectors from the rail. Then LP via remote feed if you don't have a gauge with sight block to 'T' in to challenge the LP suction side.
