Can you contact me at support@picotech.com and send me the files from the directories at C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Pico Technology\ you may need to enable"show hidden files and folders".

This should give an indication of where the PC is losing the connection.

Hi Andy,

If you need to return the scope for a check up there will be no charge, but as Martyn says its best to send through the diagnostic data first. If the problem is not with the scope then sending it back will just waste your time.

Alan

AVDR / Andy,

A suggestion!

If you post your location perhaps someone close to you would be kind enough to do a bit of "swaptronics" with you and try their scope on your computer and and your scope on their computer that way in a few minutes you will get a good indication of which end of the communication chain is causing the problem.

I would doubt that there is any potential for damage with this strategy and you never know you may get to meet a fellow Pico user. :D

Thabks for the replies guys, and sorry for me taking so long. I read your responses last week but have spent the whole of last week making exhaust manifolds, only got back behind the laptop today.
Email will be on its way to you soon Martyn, and my location is about 7 miles outside of Chester. The swap tronics is a good idea but its still an intermittent fault so may take a while for it to appear.

Hi Andy,

Speak to Matt William at Professional Diagnostics.

https://www.prodiag.co.uk/store/index.p ... ommon/home

He is the approved Pico trainer and is only around 20 Miles from you (depending which side of Chester you are located). I have spoken to him and he says he will gladly see if he can help out to nail the the problem you are experiencing.

He is currently training a group of techs in South Africa but if you contact him he will be back in the UK next week.

Matt is a really knowledgeable guy and as an ex automotive specialist at Pico he knows both the hardware and the software inside out.

Good luck with the problem.

Much obliged, will give him a call as advised. Thanks Kev, as you say it'll be interesting to 'touch base' with a fellow scoper.

Just to let people know, I spoke to Matt as directed. We concluded the best course of action was to try another laptop on my own scope. I'm still trying to organise a replacement laptop (afraid I function very slowly :| ) especially when things kind of still work.
Will post more as I get my act together.
