BNC extension leads.

Post by mastertech02 »

Hi All.

At present I am building a diagnostic cart and wish to install extended BNC cables From my Pico to bulkead connectors. I wish to use BNCto BNC extension cables.
My question is can I use readily available cables or is there spec required ?

Any Help please

Hi,

Pretty much and BNC extension lead will be OK provided it has 50 ohm rather than 75 ohm connectors. One option is to visit our friends at AES Wave, they stoock quite a few eg http://www.aeswave.com/products/Product.asp?i=136&ci=55

Regards
Alan

At the sort of frequencies we are looking at (low by test equipment standards) the choice of cable (75 or 50 ohms) will make little difference.

50 ohm and 75 ohm BNC connectors have slightly different sizes for the center pin and there is a small risk of poor connection if different types are used.
