Peugeot 307 misfire cold.

Post by hbr »

Hello here I am again with a problem car, a Peugeot 307 2.0 petrol with rfn engine from 2002.
This car misfires and backfires when you hit the throttle with a cold engine.
I have tested the fuel pressure, this is good, and I scoped the coil pack, this is where I need help.
The events don't look good to me but I don't know what the problem can be.

Looking at that lot I would check 1st coil \ spark shorting to ground and then work from there

It has a coil pack on top of the plugs. Can it be faulty injectors? I found that one injector gets wet if you keep the pressure on the rail.

CHB has nothing like the inductive kick that it should have compared to CHA. Would advise a coil pack.

Hi hbr,
I would definitely replace the ignition coil pack on this vehicle, they don't last long on these systems. If you can, try to source a descent make otherwise you will have the same problem in the not too distant future. I must have replaced hundreds of these coils in recent years.

Regards Kev

PS would be handy if you could upload a known good waveform for this vehicle after you have replaced the coil!

I have heard of non genuine spark plugs causing problems on some pugs. I don't know if it apply to this engine as well though but may be worth bearing in mind.
