Could mixmaster be used for parading primary inj voltage

Post by benmixmaster »

Could mixmaster be used for parading primary inj voltages?
Of course I would assume an attenuator would be needed of some size to bring max volages to the mixmasters -2 to +2 volt limits. If this could work mayby 100:1 attenuators for each injector.

Dear Ben

Thank you for your email into Technical Support.

I have used the mix master myself for looking at Petrol Injection as the Absolute Voltage input of the Mixmaster is -4V to +4V. I have used this on a GM engine where the Injector Voltages peaked at just under 80 Volts therefore the 20:1 attenuators we supply comfortably allowed the voltages to work i.e. 4v x 20 = 80 Volts.

Please note anything above would be clipped off the signal.

In terms of the software output, there is no scalling on the signal due to the way the mixmaster works for example on my test the representation wasnt scaled upto 80 Volts but it did allow me to compare all 4 injector signals as a parade.

I cant say that the 100:1 attenuator would work as we dont have any of these to test however if it is a standard attenuator for standard oscilloscopes (1MOhm Input) then i dont see why it wont work but im afraid this is something you would have to try and at your own risk.

If you have any further questions or queries then please dont hesitate to get in touch.

Kind Regards

That is very interesting! I will stew on this, I did find there are COP/FI Adapter Ferret 963 that can parade primary ignition and fuel injectors,up to 10 at a time but I would need 2 of these to look at both the same time. I just dont know how well they work, and will probly have to wait till after tax time to think about buying one or two. Mayby pico will have something coming up for this. I thank you for your input.
