relative compression

Post by yarttam »

I used pico diagnostics to do relative compression on a 2000 Mits eclipse 3.0. It had been in a flood. Pulled plugs, turned motor by hand, (it had sat for 2 months). Plugs back in, and started car. Let it run for 5 mins or more, running rough. Then did pico compression test, key off, with start switch in place of start relay. I got different results every time. I haven't used this test much yet, although I plan too. Why the different test results?

Is the engine turning over irregularly? Can you hear an RPM change?

Thanks.

Did you do this test with WOT. I made the mistake a few times when first doing this test of not depressing the pedal and the results where varied each time I performed the test.
