got a pico 3423 4 channel and software is V6.2, trying to set up the number of samples and collection time so i can monitor a car that intermittantly cuts out. Currently using 2sec/div and 20ms samples per/sec, anything slower gives me the chunky waveforms, is there any other settings i need to change? tried changing resolution in advance settings to. What I'm trying to do is leave a car running and walk away for 10-20 minutes and monitor crank, cam, injectors and ignition signals

Hi have you tried to increase the number of samples? Also you can increase the number of waveform buffers by going into Tools->Preferences.

Kind regards

Yes, turn samples up to the max with max screens. Then, depending on the signal frequency, you can probably put a lot more time on each screen.

You can also set a trigger for a signal you know is failing, or will fail when the engine stalls. This way data collection will stop when the signal fails. Then you can simply scroll back through the screens in the buffer and see what happened.

Without trigger, the scope will continue to collect screens after the failure and, if you don't notice that the vehicle has died for a while, the failure data will scroll out of the buffer.
