Built for the demands of the workshop

The WPS500X is designed around the real-world conditions of vehicle diagnostics, rapid signal changes, wide pressure swings, and environments that are hard on equipment.

Three switchable pressure ranges cover everything from delicate vacuum circuits to high-pressure fuel rail testing, without swapping tools. The built-in zoom function removes the DC offset from a signal and magnifies the AC component up to 100×, making it possible to see fine detail, such as valve events, in an intake manifold signal. For example, that would otherwise be buried in the overall waveform.

An internal rechargeable LiPo battery means no external power source is needed on the vehicle. Auto zeroing and temperature compensation keep readings accurate across a full day's testing.

Three pressure ranges = performance and versatility

The three pressure ranges of the WPS500X allow accurate measurement and analysis of many automotive pressures including cylinder compression, fuel pressure, intake manifold vacuum and even pulses from the exhaust.

Range 1

The first range gives you high resolution and accuracy for high-pressure tests such as cranking and running cylinder compression or fuel pressure testing. Not only is this test a great way for you to find compression issues, but it is also an excellent way for you to identify cam timing issues such as jumped timing belts and stretched timing chains — this is especially useful on multi-cam engines that may not have a cam sensor on each camshaft.

Range 2

The second range measures from –15 to 50 psi (approximately –1 to 3.45 bar). This range is ideal for vacuum tests and fuel system tests. When testing these systems, you will find the zoom function is especially useful as it makes it easy to analyze the valves operating with the vacuum waveform, or the injectors through the fuel waveform.

Range 3

With the third range you can measure –5 to 5 psi (approximately –0.34 to 0.34 bar). This setting is sensitive enough to allow you to analyze small pressures or pulses such as pulses from the exhaust.

Set the WPS500X to Range 2 on an intake manifold at idle and the waveform sits around –9 psi. The valve-induced pressure fluctuations are there, but they represent a small portion of the overall signal. Enabling zoom strips out everything below 100 Hz and multiplies the remaining signal, pulling the waveform to zero line and making valve events immediately readable. No rescaling in software. No post-processing.

Why one WPS500X replaces multiple gauges

A typical workshop might hold separate gauges for compression testing, fuel pressure, vacuum circuits, oil pressure and turbo boost. The WPS500X covers all of these — and captures them as a waveform against time rather than a static dial reading, which means you see exactly how pressure behaves through an event, not just what it is at a given moment.
