Upgrade your diagnostics: PicoScope 7.2 is here

The latest version of PicoScope 7 software is now available, introducing features based on user feedback to improve control and analysis efficiency during diagnostics. The update aims to simplify the interface while making waveform capture and analysis faster.

Instantly spot anomalies with Waveform overlay

Locating intermittent glitches or signal dropouts can be difficult when viewing standard waveforms. The new Waveform overlay feature addresses this by displaying multiple captures in a single view, creating a visual “envelope” of normal signal behavior. This function helps identify outliers, jitter, or anomalies by making them distinct from the consistent signal pattern.

Find important data faster with advanced serial data filtering

Diagnosing network issues often involves sifting through large amounts of serial data to find a relevant event. The new Advanced filters tool within Serial decoding helps identify specific packets, data types, or ranges of interest within long captures. Technicians can filter data by length, specific content, or other conditions across all 40 serial protocols supported by the software.

Trust your Measurements in PicoScope 7 with new indicators

To assist with data verification, Measurement indicators now place visual markers directly on the waveform. These indicators show the specific decision points used for automatic calculations, such as rise time, top or base. This allows the user to see exactly where values are derived, reducing ambiguity in the results.

Improved logging with timestamps

The update also improves data logging and timing analysis. Capture timestamps record the date and time the waveform buffer was received by the PC, which can be displayed on-screen and saved in data files.

Multiple user interface improvements

Several workflow enhancements have been included to streamline general use. Settings can now be adjusted with greater precision using the mouse wheel; holding the Shift key allows for fine control when entering values. “Smarter Actions” enable the software to trigger specific tasks, such as saving a file, when pass/fail limits are met. A Channel Deskew feature is available to compensate for timing differences caused by probes with different cable lengths. Finally, a Factory Reset button has been added for quickly restoring default settings, and capture times can now be exported to .csv files for reporting.
