Free MT03A Update Adds UNECE R100 EV Bonding Testing

Pico Technology has released a free software update that turns the MT03A Milliohm and Motor Tester into a UNECE R100-compliant equipotential bonding verification tool. For workshops servicing electric and hybrid vehicles, that matters: Equipotential Bonding verification after repairs, component replacements and accident damage is a safety check often overlooked, and until now, doing it properly meant using a dedicated, often expensive, single-purpose instrument. Worse still is that using tools like this meant no reporting or data gathering in order to justify repairs and support warranty repairs.

Version 2.0 changes that. A new data file format produces a time-stamped digital record for every MT03A test (bonding, milliohm and motor), retrievable and shareable for customers, insurers and internal audits. The new Equipotential Bonding test will allow you to build a table of measurements following each test, providing the ability to note the component under test along with any additional information, such as Pass/Fail, depending on the manufacturer’s specification. This data can be saved and printed as a report for the vehicle. The update also extends the resistance measurement range from 2 to 5 ohms, broadening the MT03A’s use to CAN bus integrity checks and actuator diagnostics. No new hardware. No licence key. Just download and go.
