PicoScope 7 Automotive
Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, the next evolution of our diagnostic scope software is now available.
Our PicoDiagnostics Propshaft balancing software (bundled with PicoScope 7 Automotive) works in combination with our NVH Diagnostics Kit to take you step-by-step through the propshaft balancing process and, by measuring the propshaft speed and vibrations, reports back the adjustments you need to make to minimise an unbalance.
You can choose from two balancing methods - using either trial weights applied to the differential pinion flange or trial hose clamp positioning about the circumference of the propshaft - depending on the application.
Unbalanced propshafts produce a characteristic vibration (i.e. one disturbance per revolution), which can cause customer complaints of Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). Following the diagnosis of an unbalanced propshaft (using the PicoDiagnostics NVH), you can use Propshaft balancing to minimise the offending vibration and fix your customer’s vehicles.
Typically, propshaft balancing also must be carried out after the replacement of a propshaft or associated components. These circumstances may include during a pre-delivery inspection after the vehicle has left the factory but before it reaches the customer: In these cases, a routine propshaft balancing procedure ensures the vehicle will perform as intended and deliver the intended customer satisfaction.
With PicoDiagnostics open and a PicoScope Automotive oscilloscope connected to your PC, select Propshaft balancing.
Select either the Pinion flange trial balance or the Hose clamp trial balance procedure, as applicable.
Select Wizard to be guided through the balancing procedure or Advanced to follow a manual process with access to additional features suited to custom applications, such as rotating machinery.
