Capture timestamps

Background #

Recording the time at which a waveform was captured allows data to be matched with other events and data recorded from other sources.

Implementation #

The capture timestamp recorded by PicoScope 7 is the date and time at which the waveform was received from the oscilloscope by the host PC, according to the PC system clock, to the nearest second.

The capture timestamps can be hidden or displayed in PicoScope 7. The capture timestamp is saved in PicoScope data (.psdata) files, whether or not it is displayed in PicoScope 7.

When using Measurement Logging, the capture timestamp for each waveform is included in the logged .CSV file.

Enabling capture timestamps #

Enable on-screen display of the capture timestamp using the control in the Waveform Navigator options panel.

The Waveform Navigator panel is accessed by clicking on the Waveform control in the top bar.

Capture timestamps can then be enabled by clicking the ‘On’ button.

When enabled, the time is displayed in the top corner of the view (scope, spectrum and so on) in the form dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss. The time is also displayed in each thumbnail in the Waveform Navigator, in the form hh:mm:ss.
