Congratulations go to Dale Cooper, a Lecturer in Motor Vehicles at East Surrey College. Dale (Dale Cooper on our forum) sent this case study to us for entry into the competition this time round, and he won! "Whilst covering power and torque with a BTEC level 3 group, I decided to try and take a snapshot of what was happening inside the cylinder in order to show what takes place over the full 720° of crank rotation on a single cylinder engine. The waveform shows the basic evidence gathered by the colleges PicoScope unit. The whole assembly was mounted on a Honda CBR 125R and timed so the leading edge of the first tooth and the spark were together in order to more easily reference top dead centre (TDC)..."

Training courses

If you own, or are thinking of buying, a PicoScope Automotive Diagnostics Kit, you mustn't miss the Professional Diagnostics Ltd engine management diagnostics course. This two-day officialPico Technology course introduces the basic working principles of engine management systems, component testing and system diagnostics using oscilloscopes. The course is split between class-based theory sessions, and practical demonstrations in a workshop using the PicoScope Automotive Diagnostics Kit. The two day course includes everything you need to get the best from an oscilloscope. The course runs several times a year around the UK.
