Frank Massey, the Godfather of oscilloscope diagnostics, retires
We found out in early 2025 that Frank Massey was planning to retire from his work as a diagnostic technician in spring 2025 after 50 years in the UK Automotive Business. So we decided that it was an occasion that we had to mark in some way.

Frank’s profound influence on PicoScope Automotive’s history explains our celebration. He shaped our initial kits, prioritizing essential workshop accessories. For years, he championed oscilloscopes for complex diagnoses, trained countless technicians, and ignited their passion.
Pico’s Steve Smith, a renowned diagnostic technician and UK Top Technician, credits Frank’s early mentorship for his career’s trajectory. He recalls traveling to Frank’s workshop for training over 30 years ago, a pivotal start he attributes to his success. Steve’s reputation for solving any diagnostic challenge stems directly from Frank’s guidance.
In essence (and there’s much more to say), Pico deeply cherishes Frank’s contributions and friendship. To honor his retirement, we crafted a unique, limited-edition ‘Frank Massey’ PicoScope, presented on March 19th, 2025, just before his Spanish retirement journey.

Does this mark the end of our work with Frank? Primarily, yes. However, his passion for PicoScope training persists. We hope he’ll occasionally lend his expertise to future projects, especially those aimed at new scope users, a cause dear to him.
And as for all of us touched by Frank over the years, just as he has emblazoned on his chest ‘I came, I saw, and I learned’
