New features in PicoScope 7.1.46 Early Access

New longer time-base options (perfect for parasitic drain testing)

It is now possible to increase the time base to a maximum of 20,000-second divisions so providing a maximum sweep time of 2 days, 7 Hours, 33 minutes & 20 seconds (2d:7h:33m:20s)

Click on the “Time & Sample” lozenge to reveal the time settings options

Note below we now have the option to select 10,000 and 20,000 seconds per division

Below we have captured a charge sequence totalling 1d, 23h, 21m, 40s with our timebase set to 20,000 s/div

New Math functions for Rise & Fall time

Continuing on the theme of math channels, there is now an easier route to graphing the rise and fall time of captured signals using Rise & Fall math channels

Below, we have utilized the math channel wizard to apply 3 Rise Time math channels focusing on channels A, B & C

Note: A rise time math channel applied to channel A would read as follows “rise time(A 20, 80)” where “20” denotes the lower threshold of the signal (20%) and “80” denotes the upper threshold of the signal (80%) upon which to calculate rise time

With the creation of the above math channel, we can visualize the rise time “trend” between each phase of our electric motor where they should be the near identical (See below)

Note: In addition to the rise time math channels, we have included rise time measurements (between the time rulers) for channels A, B & C and compared them with the “mean” value of the rise time math channels (again between the time rulers) to validate the results of both maths & measurements

Increased max input range to 10V for TA398 BNC+ coil-on-plug (COP) and signal probe

Upon connection of the BNC+ COP probe to either a 4225A or 4425A automotive scope, the user can now select a +-10 V input range to accommodate intense electrical fields about the component under test.

Users can now toggle channels on and off within the Setup Wizard

Click on More in the left-hand tool panel to reveal the Setup Wizard button
Note: Clicking on the Star symbol to the left of the Setup Wizard button will place the Setup Wizard feature in the left-hand tool panel where it will remain ready for use without having to select More
Clicking on Setup Wizard will reveal the Setup Wizard dialog box (see below) where several preset items (E.g. “Battery voltage“) have been selected for test using the drop-down arrow adjacent to each preset component label

Clicking on Apply settings will automatically configure PicoScope to capture the selected signals (See below)

With the Setup Wizard dialog open, channels can now be turned off from with the Setup Wizard dialog by clearing the channel preset and clicking on the channel letter. Below we have turned off channels A & C using the Setup Wizard dialog

Channels can be turned back on from within the Setup Wizard by clicking on the channel letter. Below we have turned channel A back on, with channel C remaining off

In the scenario below, I have opted to manually configure channel A at +- 500 mV and added a custom channel label (12 V LEAD TO LEAD). Upon opening the Setup Wizard, channel A settings and label are displayed within the Setup dialog box, where the remaining channels can be configured using the Setup Wizard features.

Please note, the channel presets available for selection within the Setup Wizard dialog box are limited at present but will increase in numbers with future updates. At this stage, it is not possible to add and save custom channel presets to the Setup Wizard dialog
