Case Study: Seat Leon – EML on and fault code P0491

The vehicle in question belongs to a staff member here at the Pico Head Office. The driver informed us that that EML (Engine Management Light) had come on but that there was no loss of power, and no sign of anything wrong, apart from the light coming on.

Technical information: Cam and crank correlation

By utilizing the crankshaft signal in conjunction with the camshaft signal we can non-intrusively evaluate the correlation between these critical components, while also confirming the exact style of camshaft pick-up utilized by the manufacturer.

"This is as bizarre as they get. This 2004 Dodge Ram randomly decides to shut off while accelerating on to the highway. No DTCs are stored."

Technical information: Secondary ignition

Ignition systems have two circuits that result in a spark being fired at the end of a spark plug. The primary circuit is between the battery and the ignition coil. The secondary circuit is between the ignition coil and the spark plug.
